LPEL Shota Rustaveli National Foundation of Georgia administers up to 30 individual and institutional scientific grant competitions and programs in Georgia, in various fields, through programs supporting outstanding quality scientific researches, development and mobility of youth, popularization of science, deepening of international cooperation in scientific researches and development of scientific infrastructure.
People residing in Abkhazia or Tskhinvali regions and interested in scientific activities in accordance with the criteria of the mentioned programs, are enabled to participate not only in cited grant competitions, but also in those related to the facilitation of scientific research projects and international scientific events studying Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions administered by the LPEL Shota Rustaveli National Foundation.
Scientist residing in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions holding Georgian citizenship/ status-neutral ID Card (SNID)/status-neutral travel document (SNTD) has an opportunity to engage in the project submitted under the grant competition as a major staff. The aim of the competition the development of scientific researches studying Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region, bringing them closer to international standards; creation of new knowledge, research-analysis of new ideas and concepts, events and facts; dissemination of research results, sharing of experience among researchers of different generations and various research centers; integration of the research process into the university's educational process and the increase of the scientific potential of young scientists; strengthening of local scientific potential as a result of information exchange and experience sharing.

Horizon Europe – is the major financing program of the European Union in the field of research and innovation with a budget amounting to 95,5 billion EUR. This financing is distributed through grants during 7 years (2021-2027). Georgia became eligible to participate in various fields and grant competitions due to association with the program in 2021.
Horizon Europe program, on one hand, enables Georgian universities to establish research and scientific cooperation with European universities and to implement research projects and, on the other, envisages various opportunities for scientists at an early stage of their career (PhD researchers, post-PhD researchers), in the frames of the program.
Horizon Europe National Office operates with the aim to support program participants, which aims at supporting applicants from Georgia, inter alia providing thematic trainings and consultations.
