Peace Fund for a Better Future (Peace Fund) is a non-profit (non-commercial) legal entity founded in 2019.
The goal of the Peace Fund is to empower the conflict-affected population living on both sides of the dividing line and improve their socio-economic situation through supporting economic ties and business projects.
To achieve the defined goal, the Peace Fund annually announces a grant competition financing best business projects and initiatives.
Peace Fund is financed by international donors.
In its activities, the Peace Fund is guided by the principles of transparency, legality, impartiality, prohibition of any form of discrimination, protection of gender equality, equal access to grants, sensitivity related to the conflict-affected population and status-neutrality.
The Fund provides financing to:
- Physical person(s) over 18, living in Abkhazia or Tskhinvali regions;
- A citizen of Georgia who has reached the age of 18 living in the rest of Georgia, if the business proposal is implemented on both sides of the dividing lines jointly by a citizen of Georgia and an individual(s) who has reached the age of 18 and is living in Abkhazia/Tskhinvali region;
- Entrepreneurial legal entity jointly established in compliance with Georgian legislation.
Funding spheres are:
- Agricultural sector (for example, farming activities, animal husbandry, poultry, horticulture, fishing, beekeeping);
- Industrial sector (for example, processing and manufacturing).
Both the expansion of existing businesses and new economic activities will be funded.
Spheres not funded:
The Fund’s grant program does not provide funding for projects related economic activities in service sector (for example, hotel and restaurant business, catering facilities, beauty salons, shopping facilities, car services/laundries, education and science, medicine, financial services, transport, media, advertising, digital services, events, logistics, research, gaming business and gambling, professional services, political, charitable and religious activities).
The grant program also does not finance: production of hazardous substances; import/purchase of goods from Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions to the rest of Georgia, which are not produced or originated in Abkhazia and/or Tskhinvali regions; production of excise goods (except for locally produced tobacco products and alcoholic beverages) in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.
Funding scope:
In the frames of the grant program, funding for one beneficiary is defined as not less than GEL 5,000 and not more than GEL 15,000 and for a group of beneficiaries - not less than GEL 15,000 and not more than GEL 50,000.
Funding form:
In the frames of the grant program, upon the relevant document(s) submitted by the beneficiary, the purchase of fixed assets will be carried out and, if necessary, also the purchase of raw materials and consumables necessary for launching of the production process.
The grants issued by the Fund cannot be used for:
- Purchase of the real estate (including of the land);
- Such expenses that are already financed by another organization/program;
- Purchase of a vehicle for personal use, except for the means intended for agricultural business activities (for example, a tractor).
Application submission:
The Peace Fund accepts grant applications/projects electronically, in Georgian, Russian or English languages in the frames of a grant competition announced annually.
